Welcome to our Capel Christmas Fair 2020! We hope that this website gives you a flavour of what we are trying to achieve at our first Christmas Fair in Capel. We are passionate about the two causes we are supporting and keen to welcome good quality but affordable stalls to our new fair!
We are excited to welcome you to this new website for our new Capel Christmas Fair which will take place on 14th November 2020 in our beautiful village of Capel in the heart of the Surrey Hills!
Debbie von Bergen is Treasurer of our Capel & Ockley Parish and lives in Capel. She has a wealth of experience organising charity fairs for St Catherine’s Hospice and brings her knowledge and enthusiasm to this new fair! Suzanne Cole has organised local events including our annual Vicarage Fete with Debbie. We both worship at St John the Baptist, Capel. This fair is a culmination of a desire to achieve monetary support for two charities that we are passionate about. Firstly our two ancient church buildings and churchyards in Capel & Ockley – which due to their historic nature require regular upkeep that doesn’t come cheap! Our current fundraising ventures have been for our Church Wall Fund that is being restored all around the churchyard at St John in Capel.
Secondly, we have chosen the Motor Neurone Disease Association. Suzanne’s father Colin died four years ago of Motor Neurone Disease (MND). The Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA) were instrumental in giving information and advice as her family went through Colin’s illness and ultimately his death in October 2015. It is a less well-known charity that desperately needs funding for research. Currently the diagnosis of MND means you face no cure and they still do not understand what causes the disease.
