Inaugural Fair a GREAT SUCCESS!

Inaugural Fair a GREAT SUCCESS!

A BIG THANK YOU!

Debbie and I would like everyone for their support at our first Capel Christmas Fair on Saturday 20th November 2021.  After many months of planning, the day finally arrived! We had a stirling team of helpers to help us set up the day before, help at the Fair itself and then a wonderful team to help us clear up at the end!  Everything went very smoothly thanks to our helpers!  The whole of  the Friday had been spent making the two Halls look as festive as possible! We certainly had a lovely array of christmas trees, garlands and decorations!  There were 30 stalls, many of which were local businesses.  We wanted to support local and small businesses wherever possible.  Surrey Hills cafe and Hill House Farm provided refreshments throughout the event and the entry programme which included a free hot drink seemed to be very popular!  Our thanks to Joy and her wonderful team of helpers for serving so many cups of tea and coffee to our visitors! Also thanks to Aldhurst Farm for providing us with local milk for the refreshments!

Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive from both our stallholders and visitors!  Over five hundred people came over the course of the Fair which is amazing for a first time event!  The stalls sold a wide variety of items from art, pottery, tea, baby items and giftware, Body shop toiletries, MNDA christmas cards to faux fur accessories and jewellery amongst others!  We are delighted to announce that the event raised in excess of £3,200 and just over £1,600 has been sent to both charities!  The monies will be split equally between The Parish of Capel & Ockley and the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA).  As some of you know, my father died of MND in 2015 and I have fundraised for the Association ever since.  Sadly, there isn’t much support in the UK for families who find themselves coping with motor neurone disease apart that offered by the MNDA.  I know from personal experience that they are a lifeline at a critical time in a patient’s journey with MND.  They provide support, equipment and fund vital research.  I know some of you locally have also been touched by MND.   My sincere thanks to everyone who supported us with this new Fair  –  we couldn’t have done it without you!

We’ve already booked next year’s Fair for Saturday 19th November 2022 12—4 at both the Memorial & Parish Halls in Capel.  We hope to make it BIGGER AND BETTER!   So do keep watching our social media pages and our website for updates! www.capelchristmasfair.co.uk

Again, our sincere thanks for all your support with this new event.

Best wishes,
Suzanne Cole  & Debbie von Bergen
